Coming back from the VMSC rally the SIP speedo froze so I pressed the programme change button and went ok for a while then it went haywire. It change from one programme to another, at first I though it must be water got into the button but then noticed it also zeroed the distances on A & B. Finally it all went to zero with occasional flashes of speed and distance. I've not looked into anything yet but wondered if anyone has had a similar fault.

That would be a good place to start and possibly the plug cap.

Check under the sheath where all the wires enter the back of the speed housing to see if one or more of the black earth wires have become detached

May have found the fault. I had a quick look last night and found the plug cap loose on the plug, the threads on the plug had worn and the cap was just sitting there. Strange because it never missed a beat coming back from Coventry. It was pouring down so only did a static test in the shed but all worked well.
