Rear Hub Cone
I've got a Servetta hub to go onto an Italian layshaft but I've lost the Servetta hub cone. Will the Italian cone work?
Anyone?

I guess it depends on the cone angle. There are three that I'm aware of. 8, 10 and 11 degrees I believe. They need to match.
Measure the diameter top and bottom of the cone and the "hole" in the hub and work out the angles of both.

I wanted to physically check before saying anything, because, prior to doing so I looked @ both RLC & SR's sites which confused me.
I've just checked seven spare cones that I could find against three hubs, one being Innocenti SIII & the other two Serveta 'strong type.
Of the four greater included angle cones, they all went in the Innocenti S III hub.
The three shallower included angle cones all went in the Serveta.
However, I can only stress that they were my findings & I've only felt that I should contribute to this Post because it is a safety critical issue.
Whatever you decide, you really should lap the cone into the hub using grinding paste because that will confirm whether you have a matching set, or not.
Lastly, try & get a cone that is 'hard' as the last few that I've bought specifically for Serveta hubs have not been & look like they've been splined in the bore after minimal use! So, my advice is to avoid one of the obvious sites & ask a Serveta specialist parts supplier, as I wish I had done.....

Sounds like basis for an interesting article...Warkton Tornado No.1 wrote:I wanted to physically check before saying anything, because, prior to doing so I looked @ both RLC & SR's sites which confused me.
