Stock vs single piece crown wheel

Hi, I've got an all stock '63 Li150 with 4,000 original miles I'm cleaning up. Someone mentioned to me that the new single piece crown wheels are far superior. I was unaware that this is a problem and I'm sceptical and will reuse what I have. But thought I'd ask the community.

The original is two piece riveted and perfectly fine for most engine rebuilds but for high horspower a non riveted is better as they can come loose I've a two piece on my rb2oo pushing out 21.hp and it's fine

Thats the old cushdrive sprocket wich were even werse and looking at the groove it must have been making some noise so if people dont investigate this is what happens PLUS an easy fix is two give the rivets a tap with a ball pain hammer and under basic maintenance checking clutch /endplate / front sprocket you have more chance of spotting any such problems in my ho

David, yours is the 'cush drive' type and would highly recommend that you change it, even for a cheap Indian one. Check when you get it that it is actually 'round'. Rotate it, mounted without chain against a fixed marker (bit of welding wire bolted to engine stud), or a dial gauge. If it isn't, SEND IT BACK for a replacement. Not enough people sending stuff back, and ending up paying twice/ thrice. Use a 'reputable' dealer for good quality, not joe on ebay. (sorry if you're a good joe reading this). S
