Gear Change Issues

Am having trouble with the gear change on my newly finished li125 restomod.
When stationary it won't go into first or second but will go into second if you roll the bike. Is there anything obviously wrong from the attached picture , which is in neutral? Am wondering if the aftermarket stainless connection between the pivot and the gear change is too long or could it be something completely different?Image

For a start you have put the gear swivel base ( bolts to casing) the wrong way around , it sits so its sticking out from the side case slightly.

I think your swivel mechanism is on the wrong way round!

Also if in the photo your not already pulling the clutch in then the lever is to far forward, its already at 90 degrees to the cable , undo the cable and adjust the lever back one or two notches to give some angle on the lever before its pulled .

Thanks guys. My Sat morning sorted ! The aftermarket swivel confused me as with the base the wrong way round the top kind of looks like it's the right way.
Clutch not in on the photo so will fix that too.
Cheers Tippo

+1
Also in your original post you say that it wont go into gear unless you roll the scooter. You dont say if the engine is running when you try this.If the engine isn't running it will be very hard to select any gear without rolling the scooter forward or backward.

That is a very fat swivel. I haven't seen one like that before.

If it is too fat, then it might foul on the bolts that retain the swivel base. This might stop the gears selecting properly.

looks like one of the new type with built in bearing.

Personally i would remove the rubber gators on gear cables also. The inner one looks compressed as it is so if there new and stiff this wont make it any easier to select 1st etc
