6000 rpm normal????

Just started my scooter in the shed - thought I would see what revs it goes up to revving on the stand. Was surprised to see she only revs to 6000 (on SIP speedo) at full throttle. Is this normal??? Or should I be expecting to see more?

TS1-225 - standard
Varitronic ignition
Franspeed SuperTourer
TMX 35 open carb
Set up by Chiselspeed on dyno last year.

Many thanks! :D

you shouldn't really be reving it like that,it proves nothing, but may let the conrod see the light of day,if you know what I mean.

i'd have expected 8000rpm + on the stand.

What speeds have you been getting on the road and what final drive do you have ?

I suspect the 6000 reading may be wrong....

I often rev mine on the stand to 8750 rpm and mines not a TS1. 6000rpm is my cruising speed of approx 60mph so yes your reading is way out or your engine is strangled !

you should realy allow the engine to warm up to a nice temp before you rev the nads out of it, i would expect it to rev much higher when warmed up, on the road would give you a more accurate rev limit as it would be under load.

Thanks all - will check the RPM out on the road and report back but I have a feeling the pipe might be restricting the engine. I'm going to dig out my old dyno printout as thinking back I remember thinking how low the peak was.

The Varitronic, having a double spark, can sometimes cause problems with the readings......

Dead right but I'd expect it to show double. You'd probably need to configure the tachometer as if it were fitted to a twin.

It is set up for the double spark :)
