I recently bought a s3 project that ended up having a s2 engine in it. I decided to buy an early s3 casing and transfer the internals from the s2, using this as a chance to build my first engine (after 12 years of owning 2 Vespas and 3 Lambrettas!)
All is going well and it's been a sharp learning curve with many jobs being done twice.
I have noticed that there is two types of kickstart spring (one for s2 and one for s3). What is the difference and why won't a s2 spring fit an early s3 side-casing?

i think the difference is the diameter of the wire used, series 3 being thicker, so the location holes in the side case and kick start shaft are bigger to match.

Cheers.
Is there any differences in the kickstart shafts?
I've put the s2 spring in with the s2 shaft and it seems to fit?
