BSA thumb choke £12.00 ebay . Shimano SIS gear cable inner outer £3 nylon lined with a stainless cable. Cable nipple filed down to fit in choke jet. Small solderless nipple at thumb choke end with a groove cut into chock lever to allow cable adjustment. Its a handlebar type bracket so I binned the lower section and replaced it with a flat bar of alloy.

Total outlay £15.00 and it works a treat with the ability to feed small amounts of choke if needed and it locks out in all postions as tension is set with centre screw. I didnt do this to save money, just to prove it could be done as many have made other great versions before me.

Neat.

BTW, if you have to solder your own nipple on, then a mild-steel cable is better than stainless. If in doubt, test the cable with a magnet.

I use the gear change off a push bike , they have a few clicks on them so you can just open it a bit at a time and leave it
