got a friend whos top end and crank i helped him to replace, running fine, carb needs a little adjustment, he has done 300 gentle miles running it in, its a cast 175 gori kit, ricambi crank i think, anyway cut to the chase, he has been moaning about the vibrations, he is getting numb hands from riding it, turns out he fitted new scootopia engine mountings am i right in thinking these give a lot of vibrations, he is worried his crank might be twisted.
cheers

scootopia engine mounts seem to have a bad reputation as far as vibration is concerned

Yes Scootopia mounts have a bad rep. I fitted BGM ones as my scoot was unridable, completely cured the situation.

if you can stand them that long! i know the problem as i fitted some myself and since removed. i was wondering if there was not a way of speeding up that softening process i.e soaking them in someting.

I cured my vibrations problems by fitting a SIL mount on flywheel side and keeping the scootopia one on the kick side. Became much better directly.

I've got Scootopia mounts in ome of mine and to be honest I don't find them that bad but now done 1300 miles on it. Still vibrates more than my one with SIL mounts but far less than my combo with the RLC sidecar mounts in...certainly wouldn't want to ride that too far (but found bubble grips help a lot)
