Front Hub - Clunking

The locating pin in my front hub has a bit of play in it and doesn't sit tightly. It allows the backplate to move with an audible clunk when you're braking, which is probably not a good idea in the long run. Initial thoughts are that you might be able to sleeve the pin or something like that. I'd be interested to hear how other people have solved this problem.

15mm copper pipe works if you hammer it onto the pin, you might have to file it a bit to sit in the hub, will take all the play away

I heated up some rubber pipe and slid it over it, worked for me

I think that's what I'm going to try. Mainly because I don't have access to any copper tubing. I've found some braided hosepipe which is the perfect size. Not sure how it will stand up to the job, but it's worth a try.

Lasted about 3 years on mine, I just put another piece on when it became worn

if you lift the floorboards near your bathroom you will find some 15mm copper :lol: :lol: :lol:

I to had this problem on my series 3, the original back plate was damaged so being new to scootering I dident know any better and bought an Indian GP one, it fitted but I had to file down the shoes to get em on but the locating pin flopped about like a cock in a stocking in the back plate, then I got an innocenti GP back plate, although there was a bit of movement it wasn't that bad and I was able to loose it by tightening up the inner spindle nuts.
From an engineering point of view fitting tape, hose pipe, copper pipe etc is just bad. Better to remove the link and build the peg up with weld then have it machined down to the correct diameter.
