Think that's to increase primary compression while retaining balance with an economical and effective production method.

Yes, a home-made CNC mill, it's way beyond me. I remember this mill being purchased sometime in the 80's but in recent years the bed has been replaced & fitted with ball-screws and stepper motors along with the machine head. The motor speed is also computer controlled, I think the software is something that can be obtained on the internet & runs on a PC connected via some kind of control box to the mill. The software used to generate CNC programs is call CamBam.

The old man is certainly the boss in the shed, maybe once or twice I am useful by handing him something or making the tea, but otherwise I'm hanging around like a father in the delivery room.

What a bit of kit to have at your disposal. Nice one.
