Alright, so now pump that 6,500 rpm number into the gearing calculator. You think it'll make that 3rd>4th jump on a grade? The first leg of her trip will be hills and then gets flat.

I picture a lot of 3rd gear screaming at 48mph

I believe I would set her up with a tv rodded suzi 190. Plenty of pull, won't rev to high, easy to get rings/oversize piston in the middle of no where if necessary.
Blow the muggy up and you're done.
Keep it simple, she's a lot of miles to go.
That's not going anywhere...

As many of you know, the ride went well.

I had a cruising speed of between 55 and 60mph, with a top (on the flat) of about 70mph.

22mm Dellorto, Ancillotti Exhaust.

I'm glad to hear that. I was following the photos and lots of emails with Eric about the head and carb issue. I still can't believe that bike made the trek with only about 20 min break-in time on it.
