Think this is going off topic, yes it's good to know about ring wear but this is about ring pins coming out and what is the alternative piston if there is one, it would be nice if the makers/suppliers gave an answer.

No it isn’t. Excessive ring wear opens up the gap which wHere the peg sits. Consequently the ring can now tap at the peg hundreds of times a second which can loosen the peg until……….. :o

They can be ok in lower power machines, but once you need a bit of power they are not ideal. I've also had a few with rings so brittle it's unbelievable.

I've got a number of cracked Asso pistons, in both thin ring piston port and TS1 spec. In both cases they crack from the tight corners (stress point) of the transfer window, typically at high mileages. Otherwise they are pretty good pistons.

I've got two scooters with Casa kits using Asso pistons,I've had no problems from either.Should I be worried that the piston skirt on either kit will crack at sometime and wipe the engine out.I've done quite a lot of miles on both kits. This year I put a new set of rings on them and didn't notice anything wrong with the pistons...........then again I didn't look for cracking on the skirt.
