Hi folks,
just bought this engine casing, its had an non standard lambretta cylinder fitted, been welded up and machined nicely, was told it was a rotax, might anyone have any information, or parts or ideas of parts to use, etc. Ive measured the hole for the spigot and its 75mm diameter if that helps, looking forward to learning a bit more on this if anyone can help, thanks in advance,

Looks like a Harry Barlow conversion for a 260cc to me
Could be a PM Tuning MIG conversion from the 80's. I think they used a Kawasaki KX / KDX 250cc top end. I'm sure PM Tuning would have a list of engine numbers used.

How big was the transfer area of the Challenger barrels? Didn't Harry Barlow start this project and flog it on to Chiselspeed before he went to the States?
Adam is correct.
I had one on my sprinter years ago, until I totalled it at Shakespeare County Raceway, commonly known as Avon Park.
99 mph seize up through the timing trap - smashed piston/scrap barrel/bent rod - skid mark on track and in underpants.
You are now wiser but 'barrelless' if there is such a word.

Addition to above post - Should have said Adam is correct it is for a Challenger Barrel - well, it looks identical to how my crankcase mouth was.

Am I imagining it or did I see somewhere that these barrels were being manufactured again, if only on a small scale for private use? It might be worth asking Chiselspeed about it.

Don't believe its a challenger.
I had a challenger until about a year ago, my transfers where no where near that big.
Check out Bob Monkhouse on FB, he's having a go at making some Challenger II barrels
Some good photo's and videos of what he does
