yes if both surfaces are flat. It will raise your compression ratio though.

Just had to use silicone on one those 4 stud 4 bolt head kits (no names) after doing a leak down test, leaked on the head,my advice to anyone building a top end is to do a leak down test as well.

Why not use wellseal or yambond its only about 7 quid if you know were to look or just google instant gasket , ige used normal silicone sealant o few times but I understand petrol can break it down over time altho ive never experienced it myself , now I just feel more comfortable using a product thats designed for a job and not something that will "do"

I fell into the silicone sealent trap a few years ago and it cost me a hole in my piston.

Wellseal is top notch stuff.

Silicone sealants can be used elsewhere as a replacement for gasket.
At the head where the fuel burns, temperatures could easily rise beyond 300 deg C, where the Silicone sealant would brake down and get charred.
So please check the usable temperature range for the sealant.
Is bumping the compression ratio the sole objective of this exercise?

nothing wrong with clear domestic sealer. as used on bit bikes since 1502. use brake cleaner to remove any oil first.

ive used it in a cracked expansion pipe too and it worked much to my surprise. my cracked ancilotti still runs with a bead round the cracked sharks fin bracket.
