Bought some nos original rear brake shoes. I'm hoping they might actually fit and work. They are supposed to be the later gp ones. Will they contain asbestos?
Thanks.

Use of asbestos material in this country was finally banned in 1999 on the back of EU-wide legislation. So something dating back to the late '60s produced anywhere in Europe, which could contain asbestos fibres to improve it's performance, is likely to do so. So for safety's sake assume NOS brake shoes do.

most likely yes, your best bet is to get them checked if your worried about future work as thats the only way to know, tests can be done for as little as £20

it could be full of blue or brown azzy which is causing the new silent killer,Mesothelioma. this is taking over Asbestosis

asbestos was used in over 4000 products and banned in 1999,it will take the next 100 years to remove what we have, going the way we are and other countrys are still mining it ;)

most will sniff at this infomation but if you really understood what has happened under our noses you would have a little think about what you do in the future,,,,drilling that wall,,,going up in the loft at yours or your grandads,,,removing old sound deadening from cars,,,chipping plaster off walls etc etc etc etc etc you get the point

worse thing is i find most of this stuff in schools and homes,,,young kids are dying from mesothelioma,,thats how bad its got!!!
