Can anyone tell me if there is an easier way of repairing stripped headlamp rim threads in a headset other than welding? Has anyone used any of the alternatives that can supposedly be drilled and tapped etc without having to have the top resprayed?
Please tell me there is, cos Iv'e just thrown the rope over the beam in the garage.
Thanks.

I've had success drilling out the stripped hole a bit more to insert the end of a rivet, then tapping this to the original thread.
repaired this a couple of years ago with the inevitable headset top removals in that time and it's been fine.
