Went to go out last night and after a the usual first/second kick start and clean revs, I got a hundred yards and it started to splutter and wouldn't rev and then died.

There's a good spark and it tries to fire up and if it does it just dies after an attempt to rev it.

It was a bit smokey and the plug is wet, but really oily.

As it is, its either fuel or electrical.

fuel?
Usual check you have some, then check breathers not blocked, then check chokes ok, then fuels getting to carb, then that carbs not flooding due to worn needle or stuck or punctured float.

At this point, DONT go farther on the fuel path.

Switch to electrical.

Electrical?
Unplug green from loom at CDI to eliminate kill switch / simple earthing, change spark plug for proper gapped one, change ht cap, ht lead and cdi

Still buggered?

NOW you need to think about either stator plates or cylinder / pistons.

But start simple and cheap first , ie plugs, cleaning carbs first....
