had a problem with the Avanti last weekend. started belching white smoke and wouldn't run without the choke. assumed it was the drive side seal so I've replaced the seal and put a new bearing in with the extra seal fitted. cleaned the carb and drained the tank and put fresh fuel in. bloody thing is still smoking like it has an eighty a day habit and still wont run without the choke. steel drive side bearing plate and quality seals from MRB. skf bearing, European made. no marks on the crank seal face so at the moment I'm stuck. any one got any advice?

thanks to Ron who pointed me in the right direction. turns out it was the float. ethanol in the petrol had worked its magic on the float and it was leaking. all sorted now
