as digital innovations go on, there is now a "cheap" solution of controlling 2-stroke engines / compressors by using
items like "megasquirt". an option for the wintershed ??

Clever buggers these Germans.
Superchargers are supposed to be the next big thing in motorbikes. Small capacity engines that give good mpg while pottering about but with lots of power once the supercharger kicks in. Already happening in the car world. My Seat Leon is only a 1.2 but the supercharger makes it as powerful as a much bigger engined car and it gives 43 mpg on average. Low emissions too.

I believe the record breaking streamline lambretta 125 from early 60's was supercharged. Richard Taylor did some cad drawings of a supercharger for vespa et4 engine.
In my view a supercharger is easier to modify for a scooter engine than a turbo as a turbo need a reliable oil feed as it spins at around 10,000 to 20,000 rpm. Plus a supercharger works at all engine revs making it easier to jet the carb where as a turbo needs to spool up to work.
This could make a very interesting sprinter.
