a heavy one will be like a steam engine ---big slogger,a light one will be like a race set up ---less drag quicker accelerating, less guts up hills,

A heavier flywheel will also give a more even tickover. Lighter ones can struggle to keep it going and you,re constantly blipping it to keep it going.

put a full weight long finned indian flywheel on the Special , and its a lot better , 2"s up, and easier to pull away loaded up without slipping the clutch like crazy. the light AF one ive put on the GP which has a revvier engine and a single seat  . depends on the engine and what you use it for.

i had problems with both AF lightened and midweight - issues with firing points etc

so i now lighten genuine SIL flywheels to the elemec midweight dimesions and they have been great (I have 2 on bikes and 3rd ready to be done) striking the balance with the issues associated with full weight and full lightened.

Just done one ofthe old heavy px vespa ones with a nylon fan - but brought it in a bit heavier than the current disc type - again a nice balance
