i use the barrel, that way both the surfaces are the same, the top of the barrel needs to be flat too so why only do the head

I was going to do the barrel too.I was going to put permanent marker on both mating surfaces and lap them both. The marker should show any high or low spots. i lap the head on the barrel using some 1500 grit paste
