And the zinc will burn off too, been there done that just chrome without polish is better. Powder coat on the body will be OK but will burn where the hot gas hits. Now you know why they come with some oil on themsoulsurfer wrote:Looks great. will zinc plating prevent it from rusting?
Unfortunately powder coat will burn off, or, at least it did on my AF Clubman Or is this some kind of high temp powdercoat?

Ceramic coat and forget about it. Paint and powder coat is a waste of time and money on an exhaust.
Pardon the dirt
5 years old on a factory Italian box with about 4k miles on it.
No chiping, flaking or discoloring. Looks just like factory. Had the headder pipe done also and it looks exactly like it did on day one.

What's wrong with BBQ paint?

VHT if you don't mind respraying every so often. Otherwise ceramic coat and be done with it. I would at the very least ceramic coat the u-bend on any exhaust. Powder coating will look like s**t eventually. But for coating and plating you got a bargain.

About $80 back then probabbly around $100 now. The shop will blast the exhaust clean before coating it. So things like rust/paint/left over powder coating are not a problem. I like to have the old used exhausts hot tanked first to clean out all the oil and carbon before coating.

A place close to me in Wolverhampton, as said above probably not the best solution but it was only a tenner so thought it might be worth a punt.Neilly67 wrote:Who did you use to plate the downpipe Shep?
The AF clubman I've got on now was powder coated and apart from the first bit where the downpipe joins still looks ok after 2yrs.
Ceramic looks like the answer though.
Looks like there's clubmans suddenly appearing everywhere
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order.
