Is a series 2 rear brake cable the same length as the front cable? If not, Could I use a clutch or gear cable?

no- rear brake cables are much thicker. Suggest you have a word with Knowledge on here for one of his modified rear brake cables.

If you use a clutch or front brake cable on the rear it will probably snap.
Scootering since 1968.

I use the cub rear brake costs a tenner with the outer(I don't bother with that use a standard outer) from most honda dealers just cut the ferrel of the end.Much better than the original plus if you need to take your engine out there's no need to undo it at the legshield end.
the man don't give a f@@k
