extended lock nuts
just bought a set of these from andy francis with the hole in them to take the lock wire.does anyone have a special way they wrap the wire round the nuts.
you wrap the wire as if you were to do a figure 8 but only get half way if you get me so that the wire keeps the nuts from unwinding .. lock wire tool is usefull .. i take it you are refering to exhaust nuts ??

Any one got a pic of that? I couldn't follow all the descriptions...
I understand the principle that the wire is wound so that either nut should prevent the other from undoing but can't figure how to do it with the stub in the way...

I have always used the figure eight locking tab washer from the chain adjuster. Cut in half with a pair of tin snips. The extended cut bit goes down the side of the exhaust flange and when tight the sides are pushed up round the nut. Never had one come loose and easy to do if its a stub fitting before fitting the barrel.

Thats what I was trying to describe above but the cut tab needs to go down the side of the exhaust flange or the tab washer can still turn with the nut. 25 years what goes around comes around.
