Posting for a mate who's having a bit of trouble with his clutch.
Tuned RB250 putting out around 30 horses and the clutch is slipping from 1st to 2nd and now 2nd to 3rd.
Clutch has done about 1000 miles and is properly adjusted, corks are ok and using ST90 oil.
Wants to know if fitting stronger springs will help....if so which ones?

It could be that - worth a check if the cam ends are worn on the sprocket.tea5ive wrote:cush drive on the front sprocket ?
Is the 6-plate clutch definitely the Race (Surflex £400) version and not the Road (Indian £230) version?
I've had the cheaper version slip with 20 ft/lbs torque engine and a TV200 gearbox - but there's no problem with different gearbox and sprockets - wouldn't be at all surprised if it slipped with 30hp and a tall gearbox like TV200 or SX.
According to people who've tried both the Surflex one can handle a lot more torque. Either way stronger springs will help but AF should be the first port of call to solve it.

Sorry guys it is the road not the race....subject header changed.
I suppose with 30 BHP he should be looking at the race clutch.

In which case I'm not too surprised it slips.
If the design of the 2 versions is the same then I can't see any reason why the cheaper clutch would not handle more power if it had the Surflex plates and springs fitted. Certainly more spring pressure should sort it as long has he can pull the lever in.
