Anyone know what the recommended float weight and height is for a 30 PHBH. I'm running a 225 Avanti TT3.

Cheers

This any use?

http://www.dellorto.co.uk/images/parts/PHBH_l.pdf

I have used them for stuff for the guzzi. Is/were willing to give info over phone.
I made a setting jig which worked well - assuming all PHBx carbs are the same and you set the height from sealing face to highest point of float. Sorry but the ex thinks she has more use for it than me, so can't get at it or the manuals.
Correction, just been out to shed and found the manual, must have got it about 1980 - the official Del Lorto one and for the PHBH they quote 24.5 to 25.5mm for connected floats when the carb bore is vertical. Twin floats, the arm should be parallel to the sealing surface.
They list only two floats, unlike the modern website. The 9010.01.80 weighing in at 11gm, and the 9010.02.80 at 8gm. They say the lighter one is for 2T.
Hope this helps

ps
Just actually read re floats
http://www.dellorto.co.uk/merchandise/p ... ctionID=24
and it explains the difference

Cheers Warts, I can sympathise with your 'custody' issues, I'm still waiting to get my records back after 12 years.....the handrawn wiring diagram for my Marcos went in a skip

Hi Colin.

I have come across this, the heights and how to measure are on page 8.

Standard PHBH/PHBL floats for 2T are 6.5 gram. Dellorto part nr. 9010-2. Always been correct on Lambretta and Vespa applications for me, cannot think why that should differ for the Avanti: Unless Ron has other advice....

Hi Colin ,As Yanker says definitely a 6.5g :)

Part of the reason I had starting and running issues at the Euro last year was due to using a 9g after my 6.5g filled up with petrol :?

And the float height is 24mm + - 0.5mm

My PHBH carbs have either 8g or 11g floats in. I am currently running an 8g but I am interested to hear that there might be a 6.5g available.

^...turns out that the 8 and 11g are the values available for the older black floats so the new white ones should give more scope :)

^^... ooh, coolio! I remembered that I had a white float in a different carb that I bought new last year and have been running without issue in another scoot. I've just stripped out the white float, which is indeed a 6.5g item, and look forward to trying this in my current motor shortly. I've been suffering the symptoms of rich tickover because of high fuel levels with the old 8g black float so I look forward to reporting back as to how this affects it.

Thanks for the info/heads-up that has lead me down this track :)

The white (thinner?) floats have been more prone than usual to leaking. Yet another spare to carry around!
