Latest set-up in my Lammy is a rapido 225 converted to LTH reed and just dropped from 28mm carb to 24mm VHST. No loss of peak power so far but lost a few hp in over-rev. Got a good ride to do tomorrow so hopefully have an idea if the fuel economy bonus outweighs the lost power at higher rpm.

I realise it's a small block.. but when I went from a 25 to a 30 on my GT kit, the fuel consumption stayed about the same. Performance with the 30 is much better.

Is there any real evidence that a well set up 28 or 30 on any engine is going to be significantly thirstier than a 24/25?

I used a TMX27 with great success on my Imola so presume that'd work well on a TS1 especially with an Imola / Monza reed block that's flowed for a 30mm carb.

Also sat on a bench in the deep recesses of Casacorrado is a half built Rapido 250 that I was fitting an LTH reed and TM24 to it. Should be ready for Euro 2017 at the going rate. Getting the needle and atomiser right is the big issue with the TM24, you could easily spend well over £100 chopping and changing them, as the atomisers are about £15 a throw.

Avanti with TM24 anyone?

Thats exactly what I am doing at the mo, as soon as jetting is finalised I'll let you know.
bought all the parts from camlam ready jetted but they are way out (very rich).
spent a fortune on nedles and jets so far.

mugello 225, phbh26 and ancilotti 42mm downpipe.

It all depends on how the cylinder was set up, I have assembled set up a 225 Mugello, 25mm PHBL through the airbox, Gori exhaust putting 16bhp @ rear wheel with a wide spread of power. On the road it'll max out at 75mph.
I'll look on the dyno for the spec used it may give you a better starting point.

Best regards

I've got a 26PHBH and 42mm AF clubman on a harry barlow cast iron 70mm barrel with a 60mm crank giving 230cc. Goes well with the 26 Jetting is as follows.

Idle 52
Slide 45
Atomiser AV266
Needle X13 1st clip
Main 108

Runs great at tickover and when you just crack the throttle. Rich as croesus at just under to just over 1/4 throttle, and perfectly everywhere else. I've tried a 30PHBH with the same jetting but 122 main and it it MUCH faster with the 30. Still the same rich spot though.

Any suggestions?

Dean Suinn, in Los Angeles, made a custom intake manifold for a customer that wanted to run a 24 mm Mikuni TM flatslide carburetor on his TS1 225 Indian GP200. He wanted the carb mounted on the left side, as standard. I think Dean built the engine for him. I remember him riding it at rallies, and he told me that he used it to commute to LA everyday on the freeways from San Bernadino where he lived. He said it was fast enough for the freeways, got good mpg and was reliable. This was back around 1997 or '98.
