I'm sure someone far cleverer than me will know but have you tried a smaller pilot jet? Also are you using a remote filter? Sometimes fumes accumulate in the elbow when you stop and make it too rich to start. A suggested remedy is to turn off the fuel 100 yards before you stop and to make a small hole at the lowest point of the elbow to let the excess drip out when standing.
Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.

could be for a number of different reasons...
  • blocked petrol breather cap ?
    wrong plug heat rating ?
    plug gap ?
    CDI ?
    choke not closing ?
    pilot jet too big ?
    float needle worn ?
    worn rings ?
    crank seals ?
has it suddenly started misbehaving, or has it been getting gradually worse ?
does it go ok once it does start ?

Cheers for the input Guys

It’s a new engine with new AF crank, bearings and seals. The carb, Cdi (Ducati) are all new also.
The scooter was recently set up on a Dyno, I should take it back to the tuner but I don’t want the hassle or to be with out the scooter as he does nothing in a rush and its time of work to get it there.

When the scoot is running it goes well with no obvious issues, but I will go through all your points and see how I get on.

Thanks again

be worth trying without...
I had a 22mm carb [albeit a jetex] that would only easily start when warm without the air hose connected... I ended up changing the jetting to suit riding it without

to drain off excess fuel..............
