starting to get some bits and peices together for my next project, budget is a big factor with this one. so i was thinking either rapido 225 or 250 or cheapo ally kit with a bit of tuning . i have a new 200cc case, lots of gearboxes to choose from, af clubman or clubman type exhaust . oh and its going in a series 1 look a like. any thoughts ?

i agree as the so called e bay kits are just scrap, indian barrels are far better IMOsoosh wrote:If cheap is the plan, base it on an Indian barrel.

Even just bolt on with a bigbore and 28/30 carb the Indian barrels are good but it pays to tidy them up cos they can look like something that has been dug up by Time team. And get the bore clearance checked.
Mate runs one and swears by it.Plenty of people can do a bit of further tuning ,Sean who just replied has done a few. Most good tuners will easily take this to a proper stage 4.

Probably a bit more to tune the iron one. BUT, it'll last a lifetime.tea5ive wrote:what about tuning, or the cost of as i would have thought it would be cheeper to tune the ally kit, time is money etc.
How long ago was your 200 tuned, Soosh? There's a few miles on that.
Buy cheap.. buy twice. You MIGHT be lucky with a cheap one. You MIGHT be able to get a Rapido that doesn't have a conical shaped bore.
