ATERNATIVES TO WELDING??
following on from that i suppose you could use two 60mm exhaust clamps and bolt the tray to that

What about something like this:
A complete swing away from a battery tray but an alternative you could adapt to house a battery with a battery liner and securing strap of some kind..??

Don't waste your time with a battery tray. Just stick the battery to the back of the toolbox with Gripfill.
