Would I be right in saying that using car radiator type hose is better than using the rubber that comes with the carb (35mm), even though the origonal has a ring that sits in the manifold?
Thanks.

The radiator hose does seem to be tougher than the pre-made rubbers which tend to split all too easily, plus you can usually get a piece long enough to do at least 2 rubbers for the same price as a normal rubber and you can cut then shorter for better clearance. The real thing probably gives superior air flow because of the divider bar in the middle.
