Ignition timing, i was running a 205 Honda built by Mb back in 96 and it was set at 20 degrees everything was ok, i changed over to a classic rapido 225 with a low compression head, 24mm mikuni and a ancilotti clubman and everything was still ok set up on Jb's dyno 15.7 bhp at about 6500rpm very happy until i read about problems with rapidos.
I was advised to set it at 17 degrees my problem is it now feels down on power.
Would it be ok to put back to 20 degrees and why change the timing weren't they originally set about 23

Ive got mine (Rapido 225) timed at 17 degrees, the head thats on it now is 9.2-1 and Squish is 1.2mm... Ive had the timing at 19 degrees and it gave more pull. but when ridden hard for long periods the power would drop off as it got hot.
