hi guys
can anyone help with a small problem we have with our electrics ,ok its a rb 250ish , af light flywheel , bgm stator , after say 3 or 4 miles when you come off the gas its like your repeatdly turning the ignition on and off very quickly (thats the best way to discribe it) then it will calm down and tick over sometimes ,sometimes not it stays the same , so we have swapped stators 3 af's and 1 bgm ,still the same , swapped plug caps , cdi's all still the same ,we ran it with no power up to the headset so just from the stator to cdi , anyone any ideas ? or come across this before , jettings spot on also . you cannot get it to show this problem unless your riding it . now we have come to the conclusion its the pick up or low tension coil breaking down under load but we cant be that unlucky to have 5 different stators with the same fault ? any advice whould be much appreciated
thanks in advance johnny

sound like you have ruled out the obvious but have you tried it with a different flywheel

Process of elimination...... That's gotta be the next thing to try mate?

Have you checked inside the flywheel for any signs of the pickup rubbing?

Is the flywheel side bearing in good condition - any up and down crank movement?

Crank runs true bearings ok , already checked that, the flywheel had picked up on the original bgm but didnt on the Af ones which still had the same problem

have you modded the mag houseing to accomadate the light flywheel ?? i always always mod the mag house when uesing a af light flywheel
1mm off the bit the stator fits to and take the lips off round were the flywheel sits for extra cooling

Just read on the bgm site that the bgm stator do's not like / work with the Af flywheel is this true or just a marketing ploy ? Had a look at some sets , flywheel and bgm stators cdi's and none of them are paired with Af flywheels . Might just bite the bullet and get a complete set up , just hope it's not vibration that's fooking the low tension or pick ups or I'll just be back at square one !

It's strange that the problem only occurs when you come off the power, electrical problems are usually wirse under load :? Have you checked for air leaks, broken reed petals?
