Why does it need such an expensive, exotic carb?

It doesn't, that was the only carb Ron had laying around to fire it up with, he's in the process of trying various carbs out, and will no doubt write a report for his website when completed.

I need to take a close look at one of these kits, I like what I see up to now... 8-)

Only question I had was/is

Would there be any advantage in moving the exhaust flange/gasket face further away from the piston so as to aid cooling here, this by allowing cooling air to get under the joint face between exhaust upipe & barrel to off set localised heating at and around the exhaust port...

Similar to TS1 and it looks like it's been done to the Super Monza going by the pics I've seen.

Or is it not really needed on this kit owing to the larger finned/cooling area...

Does look very good :)

As I said, I need to get a good look at this kit.

jb has done some dyno work for 'young ronnie' it clearly shows how cool it runs almost in the same league as a water cooled machine.i think this kit could be the one!
