Hi all,

Which exhaust suits a mugello 186 kit.. at the moment i have a scootrs pipe.

standard li 150 gears, 15 tooth front sprocket.

agusto 7000, bgm ignition,

30mm dellorto, but i have a genuine keihin pwk which i could put on.. :? :?

Got some cash to spend, so was wondering which would suit best. jl3 ? nk ? franspeed ?

would i need the pipe to be good mid rev range or lower down??

any help would be great, plus any body selling a pipe to suit my setup please let me know...

None, unless you're prepared to hack, cut and shut.

The exhaust port is about 10mm longer than anything else. ie, the gasket face is 10mm closer to the ground..

Why? I don't know..

Pair that up with a cylinder packing plate to fix the port timings cos' they're all wrong and it makes an exhaust even harder to fit... :x
How come phonetics isn't spelt with an 'f'?

I ran my V1 muggy with a Sito Ancilotti for ages with an otherwise similar setup to yours, 28/30 PWK, standard indian electronic set at 17 degrees, Li150 with 15x46 (tried 16/46 but too tall) and it was good but I put a JL3 on it for the coast to coast and was amazed at how much quicker it was, probably around 5 mph better on top speed and a lot more mid range grunt and it was quieter to boot.

I had an AF 42mm Clubman on my old Mugello 186 with a 28mm carb. When I swapped the exhaust to a PM expansion, it totally transformed the top end. Essentially it just unleashed the potential of the kit, but the price you paid was that you lost a bit of bottom end performance. What you'd expect really.

Agree with Red Ghost, that was my experience with the JL3. Jim Lomas was excellent in sending me a custom bracket FOC from the Czech Republic, but I had to make my own in the end anyway. I'm just about to go through it all again with a Clubman and a Version 4 Muggy, does anyone know if they've altered the port depth yet?

Back to your original point: For what its worth, my experience is the JL3 makes it's power around 5000 rpm upward, and I found there's not a lot below that so gearing needs to be ~5.2:1 (GP200). This led me to experiment with the Clubman to see if I can trade some top end revs for lower down torque.

However, don't let that put you off. It is a good kit and worth the hassle IMHO.

Thanks guys, so basically its a trade off...

ancilotti for a good all round setup but suffer top end, or a jl3 for a more revvy ride...

Is it worth swopping my scootrs pipe for a jl3 ?

or even go for a ancilotti...

mainly town use with the odd ride out...
