I recently bought a new AF Electronic kit with stator and lightened flywheel.
Stator has gone after only 12 hrs use, works fine until engine gets warm then produces an erratic spark.
I traced problem back by replacing everything behind plug until I reached stator.
Anyone else seen this?

Hi Will
yeah i had the same problem, the hole where the wires emerge from the back of the stator is razor sharp and cut through the red and yellow wires, unfortunately it knackered the cdi, so you might want to check that too, and we all thought electronics were maintainance free!
regards
Dave

Yeah wires are fine. I replaced everything one at a time starting with plug and worked back.
Putting different stator on seemed to fix it.
It's fine until engine warms then fails to hold a spark at much over tick over.
Are these normal symptoms of a dodgy stator on the way out?

It could be a "dry" solder joint. On the earth tag perhaps.
