Planning to start working on a V100 that I picked up a while ago. It's almost complete and it has a clear frame number that shows up as a 1981 100 Sport but I have no paperwork and have no idea about the registration number.
Had a look on the DVLA site but can't find an answer. Has anybody done this, or know how I can find the registration number?
I have the frame number. Can I find the registration number?

I'm sure you can fill a V5 application form in without the reg' number.
If it's been registered in the UK before you should then get the V5 back with the reg' .
.........................or you may not !!

Is it an import?
Or was it a Uk registered scooter?
If its an import you need
It to be
on the Nova system
Dating certificate these only have a shelf life of a year.
V55/5 i think it is.
As its less than 40 years old i think it will need an MOT. But i have heard some guys have registered it without an MOT...
It might be subject to an inspection by SGS.
My series 2 was. Some people get away with it though.
It might need to be insured. Mine wasnt but its over 40 years old.
Its fairly straightforward.
Examples of completed forms can be found on the internet.
I used the Camlam form as a guide.
It can seem a daunting process so a lot of people use Rob Skipsey on facebook.
He is very good at getting scooters registered apparently.
I have done two of my own.
One 20 years ago pre nova and one this year 2019.
Straightforward as i say.
The above applies to imported scooters.
Not sure on UK registered scooters.
I rung the DVLA...they were helpful...
They sent me the v55/5 form.
I just wanted to clarify what i needed to do and forms to complete.

Holty is correct .
you would need one of the following to get the original Number plate.
RF Log Book or old style V5
An old insurance document showing the chassis number and Reg number.
I dont think an old tax disc is acceptable , if you have one .

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments.
I'm pretty sure it has been UK registered at some stage rather than be an import. I'll try to call DVLA and see if they can clarify if it is UK registered and how it can be re-united with it's registration number.
I think I remember that the police can match up the numbers. Not sure how much they can or will tell me but next time I'm back in the UK, I may also pop into the local nick and see how helpful they will be.
A couple of things to try.
