reading carb needles

curious really, is this possible, can't find anything by web searches. as on my otherwise dull brass pwk needle it has a very bright ring as if polished which is only fractions of a mil wide anybody know what this could indicate. I am thinking a tight spot i.e weak with the fuel polishing under increased pressure, or I could have a runaway imagination.
