I've got a scoot with a damaged frame. If I was to replace it with another frame, is it possible to send the v5 to the dvla with the new frame number or will I have to register the scoot under the new frame number as a new scooter?

How damaged is it? Have you looked at getting it repaired?

It's possible but i want to weigh it up against replacement before making a decision and having to re register is an negative that would impact that decision

you will have to register the new frame and a new reg no will be allocated to it, but sometimes they come and inspect them, and it will have to be assembled to look like a scooter, not just a bare frame, there is also a registration fee to pay as well

Thanks that's what I suspected. Can you tell me how much the fee might be now a days?

Contact the DVLA and ask. Under certain conditions it is possible to replace the frame on a damaged vehicle and keep the registration.

Thanks that might be worth trying if I go down that route.

Or you could take your damaged frame to Paul at Oiltek and get him to quote how much to put right on his jig.
