Handling Series 1&2
I have never had a tuned engine in a Series 1 or 2 but thinking of putting a Quattrini in a Series 1, with a front disc brake etc. Question is how do thy handle with a tuned engine in? The bars seem wider and of course they are heavier but this many be an advantage?

I think they handle great. Two things that made massive improvements for me:
1. Changing old standard springs to progressive
2. Ditching the single saddle for a TSR seat, you can actually feel your suspension move rather than the seat bouncing up & down!

I love the handling on my S2, far more planted on the road and gives me more confidence.
As for heavier, I've always thought this but the official figures (for dry weight) do not seem to support that, and in fact the heaviest are the SX200 and GP200!

That's interesting. A definite correlation between the capacity of the model and the weight. It is difficult to tell by the look of them, but that extra weight must be coming from somewhere. Maybe heavier gauge tubing or something?

I had a series 2 with a tuned engine and front disc. It handled really stable and felt a lot more stable than the tuned engine on my GP. I put this down to the extra weight, which the figures above seem to dispel. So if not the weight, it may be the wider profile that hugs it to the ground. However, although the weight data above says its lighter than a GP, the Series 2 takes a lot more effort to pull its bulky weight off the stand.

Find those figures hard to believe. S2 is wider so there's the extra weight of the leg shields and rear footboards together with frame. The foot mudguard must be heavier and the handlebars together with the side panels.

I was surprised myself, only looked them up to see how much heavier a S2 was than a S3 but everywhere I can find weights correlate with the above. My S2 is certainly feels heavier to put on and off the stand than my S3

I never trust manufacturer's performance data; that includes weight etc.
Where would the extra 15kg come from? The barrel, disc brake and suspension would add a little, but nothing like 15kg. Plus of course the loss of the bigger bodywork.
It's more likely that they became more honest as time went on and they kept getting caught out.
Also, dry weight is measured in differrent ways. Some include gearbox oil, but not fuel. I've even heard that suzuki used to exclude the weight of battery acid!
