rebuilding top end I`ve 2 gaskets either side of packing plate under barrel
and then head to barrel but not using a gasket there just metal to metal ,
plus does anybody use sealant around the exhaust copper gasket as it always
seems to leak slightly.
Thanks Paul

threebond is a brand name; lots of sealants made by threebond; choose wisely http://threebond-europe.com/product/series/

as above, i use yamabond, which is the same as threebond for your base and crankcase, for exhaust joints i use high temp silicone, and for a head with no gasket i use studlock, a light smear to both parts, avoid getting any in the bore, you will stick the piston and rings to the barrel, some use grease in the bore to stop this, last one i did i used one of my rotating engine stands and fitted the head with the barrel facing down so any studlock would set in the head and not get on the piston, worked fine.

I always use the solid copper exhaust gaskets and linnish them on a piece of glass with wet 'n dry taped to it to make sure there are no high spots on the copper gasket face either side. Also do same to exhaust flange and if possible to exhaust face on cylinder. Then just use a smear of high temperature silicone sealant on all faces. Never had an issue.

Wellseal for cylinder head and around exhaust flange. Bog standard bathroom silicon for exhaust joints. Threebond 1104 neo for inlet and base gaskets ( first tube had something wrong with it) .
