Hi all,
I went for a short ride later and although everything behaved well I Started to think about what sort of tool kit I should carry with me. I know you can only cater for so much on the side of the road but was just wondering what people carry with them, I’m new to this so any advice is greatfuly received.

Cable ties and gaffer tape are often useful to get you home.

Thanks for the list, I have spare cables and the tools to fit them in the tool box plus plug spanner, I know you can’t cater for everything but hopefully can cover the most common ones.

And if you carry a spare wheel it makes sense to carry the right kind of sockets/spanners to change it,not forgetting that you have to drop the front hub if you have a flat tyre on the front.

I see so many people carrying spare wheels, but do they carry the spanner to change the front wheel?

Spare cable inners and the tools to change them are most likely to be used.

I reckon you can change a piston by the time the AA turn up!

2 kits and spares are probably the norm, one for sunday afternoon rideouts and one for long haul overnight trips.

basic tools and spares for the short rides but for the longer hauls.........well where do you start and finish...
