I recently fitted a Denso spark plug and my engine felt a little constipated. I put it down to not being used so much in the winter. But today I couldn't get it to run. It would fire, but that's about it. Definitely a spark there. And correctly gapped. I tried an NGK B7 and it fired up straight away and runs nice and crisp. So why are some plugs good and others not?

I suspect you had a rare duff denso as they are very good plugs.

Would be interesting how it performs in another scooter

Use denso myself and have had no issues

Perhaps it is a bad one. I have used Denso before without issues. Curious that it seemed to spark fine. Maybe it was the wrong sort of spark, I don't know. I might try closing the gap a fraction and see if it makes it stronger.

And while we are on the subject who does a half decent plug spanner? If you manage to get them on you've got very little turn in it. You could almost do with some sort of ratchet.

Hi doom this is what I made for my ts230 and rb200 were getting in is tight use a plug socket out of your tool kit cut 10mm of the bottom take rubber insert out and fit on your plug in the scoot till you get a square edge Mark it with felt tip and weld an old spanner I used a 12mm as it fits my wheel nuts and basically as you drop it in you only have to move it and it's either tightens or undone

That's very ingenious. I suppose you could do something similar with your existing plug spanner and some sort of ratchet spanner if you cut it down and welded a nut on top?

I use the plug socket and ratchet out of one of these socket sets,works a treat.
