GP 200 Power Output 11.74hp @6.200rpm Max Speed 68 MPH. Seems out.
GP 200 (SIL) Power Output 11.9hp @6.200rpm Max Speed 74 MPH. Seems way out. Although we know the barrels were 'stage 4' plus the SIL Clubman and bigger main jet.
TV175 Power Output 8.75hp @5.300rpm Max Speed 64 MPH. Not far off.
I guess we could also make allowances for weight and modern fuel. I'm 14,7 Stones.
I thought the Italian and Indian GP final drives were the same (5.2:1 or thereabouts) seems odd they reach different speeds with the same drive ratios

Had that on the way home from IoW a few years ago. Pulled in at services for fuel just as another couple of lads were about to leave. They said they'd wait for me if I wanted them to, so I asked them what speed they were riding at, "65 mph" they said, "oh well you carry on then, I'm only doing a steady 55". Then about 20 minute further up the M6 I passed them doing 55.Chris in Margate wrote:Youre not far off. Every ride out guys say; Wow Chris you must have been doing 75mph when you came past because we were doing 70mph?
I say NO, I was doing 59 mph when I came past and then I took it up to 70mph.

Thanks for the clarification on the BHP. The top speed figures are still wrong, I suggest.
I put a skimmed head on mine over the weekend, it pepped it up a bit but haven't got a sat nav speed yet. Apart from that, everything else is totally standard apart from the 120 main jet. I really like standard scoots now but as I've said the top speeds stated weren't right, unless the petrol make a bigger difference then etc.

I put std tv175 ser 3 on dyno unit today 52mph 7.4 hp at rear wheel.
Its on 20mm carb Indian big bore with remote filter.
The best I've seen is Gt200 home tune with 20mm carb and outrigger pipe that hit 65mph, will put on dyno at some point .
One day in time I'll put my gp 200 std top end back on and see what it does, that had 58k on std piston and exhaust port so coke up it was 10 mm dia.

Put the standard exhaust back in a, it could go quicker and near the Lambretta stated figure when they can out. My Tv175 flies.

Top speed is purely dependant on colour!
Update. Got 63.6 MPH GPS out of the GP on the flat. Slightly quicker than the TV175

I've often wondered on a std motor if a clubman makes any difference at all.Lamaddict wrote:^
