I've just come back from Italy, saw a couple of Lambrettas, but Vespas everywhere. Just about everything is stock.

Mine is now a 175 Li, with a 20mm carb breathing through the airbox. I'm loving it at the moment, I doubt I can be bothered to put a modern kit, tuned exhaust and bigger carb on it.

What do I need to make it a TV engine? A longer stroke crank and a TV barrel, is that right?

You will also need the correct gearbox big part of the set up.

Best of luck

Engine differences,

Crank 58x116, barrel which I believe is ported more than the standard 150 and gearbox which TV175 or SX200.

standard bikes are great when they have been unmolested. the tv175 was and is designed to provide reliable all day transport when treated correctly in a very competitive 60's market place. why wouldnt it be reliable.
everybody got used to constant maintenance and waiting for the problem on tuned scooters.
nobody questions the p200's ability to run like a swiss watch forever do they?.
my campaign bike at the moment is an a bog standard innocenti gp 200. last of build 1970 model, with a 19 tooth front sprocket and a casa electronic stator plate and 12 volt bulbs. its so torquey with its standard exhaust it pulls fourth strongly while whitelining traffic on the way to work. i reckon part of the secret is the standard innocenti exhaust. it actually losses torque and top end with a big bore. seemsto pull fine from 1000 rpm up in fourth.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I rode my Li150 S3 standard for years all over the country and it kept going and going. Slow, but it didn't seem to matter then.

There seems to be more of a motorcycle mentality these days, with getting it to go faster, no matter what.

Still laughing with my TV, riding on a dual carriageway the other day with the traffic and my wife on the back carrying the shopping. She pretty much hates scooters but she was shocked that it was 'standard'. Full throttle doesn't seem to bother it one bit for miles and miles at just over 60mph sat nav speed. Don't know if it's a fluke, perhaps other have had the same joy.
