The manufacturers recommendation is 4% ;)

"Modern" oil has additives that help improve efficiency so the 3% is a fair shout.

I use 2% fully synthetic but this is with a Nikasil barrel and an uprated crank.

the original recommendation was 4% back in the day- but oil has moved on tremendously since the 1960's. 3% works for me.

not only was 4% the recommended oil mix but petrol also use to contain lead that had lubrication effects , with most petrol now containing ethanol and other adiditives should you really be reducing the oil / petrol ratio ?

i use a shade under 3% with a car lude 2 stroke oil in an iron barrel gp150 for round town. i always err to caution for long distance and go 4%. never had a problem with this in 1000's of miles. dare say a good quality oil will run as low as 2% though. with all the s**t modern petrol containing ethanol i am starting to consider either 4% all round or a splash of lead additive too. i blew a hole in a honda piston last year on the way to Whitby after filling up at a supermarket in Selby. scoot was running A1, the only variable was fuel quality.

I can get 4L of Rock oil semi synth for £22 down the road, or 5L of groundsmans delivered for £24, dunno why you have to get it from France, unless Margate's slid 40 mile across le channel. :D

Oh, 3% semi synth around town, 4% on the motorway if riding to rallies.
