Don't you just love 'em!! Still caught it just in time.

luckily everything is Ok- simply replaced the flywheel with a repaired spare I had. Another couple of miles and I don't think I would have been so lucky.
TBH I only realised it was in the F/W area when I turned the engine over by hand and heard the 3 rivets rattling in the dust cover

I hope some of the people that constantly bang on about SIL electronic kits being the best option for ignition choice read this thread. Yes, they are a great option but that's not to say that they are not without issue... this being just one of them.
I'm glad that you caught this in time.

Always weld them or buy them welded, weakness will always be found out. Good to see a happy outcome!

I had the same quite a way back Chris. Mine made a sound like the engine was 'pinking' no rivets snapped but were loose.

To be fair Adam, the original Italian flywheels also had issues, all the rivets on my TV200 fan let go and it was only 7 years old back then G ...agree electronic kits are not a fit and forget item though.Adam_Winstone wrote:I hope some of the people that constantly bang on about SIL electronic kits being the best option for ignition choice read this thread.
