Ok heres a graph to show just how good the V4 186 Muggys are now. Chris Sturgess built this for one of our customers. It went in a Chop that I loved but had minimal brakes! Anyway I think 19.3 and 16ft/lbs of torque is pretty good out of an unfettled kit. Not the same area under the curve as big block kits but good none the less.
The kits are good but some messing about to get port timings how we wanted them and ended up running a head gasket despite the recessed head.
One thing to note here is that to match the crankcase to the transfers and leave a decent gasket face the case was welded and then refaced to give more meat for flowing. The barrel was unported and ran a 28mm PHBH and a PM pipe. The carb was rich for running in. Jets were:
118mj
AV268
X13T1
55 pilot
40 slide
Bellmouth(In this case made the midrange better at the expense of rev on)
Power on the left torque on the right.

graphs of a std. unfettled TS1 with JL road vs. a Powolotti road tune TS1 with Franspeed race. Shows the dyno is not throwing fantasy figures ;-)

TS1 225 + 60MM STROKE CRANK 30MM CARB PM MAMBA PIPE
31.31 BHP 21.48 TORQUE

been wanting to do a torquey 30+ bhp 21+ torque set up on a 30mm carb for a while now and was sure the other ts1,s ive done would do it but never got round to trying a 30 on them i was dissapointed at first with the result but then found the reasons why,the importance of good set up dimensions is shown here the below graph shows red before and blue after
the ts1 i tuned was fitted with a 58 crank that has just been upgraded to a 60mm bgm crank and packer the red is how it arrived with the cylinder assembled to the wrong durations and the blue is after i stripped it down and rejuggled the packers to achieve the best durations as close to my original design that the stroker crank would give me
torque up from 19 to 21.5
power up from 28 to 31.3
no other changes were made between tests

old MUGELLO 186 20.41bhp

ive tuned JL4 SPACO 28 (no rpm trace on this one so power v speed in 3rd gear)

another low port timing/smaller carb tune that pulls from really low rpm with a wide spread
its the early mugello without a boost port

RB225 WITH 60MM STROKE 33.73 BHP 22.5 TORQUE

One ive tuned thats on a fresh replate in need of running in
35mm mikuni / ads pipe / low comp head / straight line ign

a compression increase and an ign curve would make it 35+

prior to the tune was 25.3bhp

33.73 BHP shown in power v speed

RB225 WITH 60MM STROKE CRANK 35 BHP 25 TORQUE

one ive tuned cyl and cases / 35mm mikuni / franspeed / straight line ign /low comp head

this motors graph was shown before with different pipe and shown in power v speed

now with new pipe and power v rpm

this is the motor used in the road legal silver lamby at mallorry track day ,it completed all the sessions and despite having sprint rack/centre stand/kick start/legshield tool box/basic suspension and brakes/all steel body ,very limited lean angles as ground out on pipe and centre stand with a non racer onboard managed a best lap of 1min 18 only 6 secs adrift of the quick regulars on the day

34.94bhp 25.33 torque

thanks Stevo

Rapido 225 std 58 stroke 20.84bhp

one ive done a mild tune on for 2 up touring use with standard looks
runs a 30mm dellorto on af inlet and a clubman exhaust
owner is delighted with results and has found he,s keeping up with ts1,s with ease
ive recommended the mb clubman as soon as there ready which might get it up to 24+

20.84bhp
