Yep, quite a project!😁

Good luck with it. Is the plan to start it this winter, or will you wait for better weather?

The rough stuff is at the blasters , then primed .

Engine being picked up at the end of the month by a mate who will strip it down to see if the cases are worth saving .. if so he will proceed with a rebuild in the new year

He is also bringing some wheels and bits down

So once I get the bits back i’ll See how much work the frame loop need ,lots and lots by the look of it , the frame look is very rough .. if I could locate another I would

is a series 2 the same ??

I’ll rebuild the forks in the meantime and sort some new headset bearings and a front hub

The shopping list is going to be immense!! ££££££££

Sorry, no experience of S1 and 2s, but above link suggests that they have only slight differences!

No real work has actually been carried out, but have collected some more parts so rebuilt small block with a tuned SIL 200 alloy top end , sterling exhaust, another frame loop and side panels (£50!!),saddle covers ,hubs , wheels and tyres ,front dampers and a few other bits. The frame loop was needed as after soda blasting mine was perforated like a teabag in places and would have needed a lot of plating to make safe but would have suited the rat look I’ll be going for

I ordered a series 1 headset and horncast (Indian copies )along with fork rebuild kit and steering bearing kit from beedspeed little did I know what’s happened with the new owners ,as last time I used them 20 years ago all was good

So spent £330 online on Black Friday 27th Nov to get the discount on parts supposedly in stock and finally got them on 24th Jan , luckily I had paid on PayPal so opened a case for a refund just in case they did my show up.

So a pile of bits ready to bolt together one I have some one look at the main frame as where it’s corroded it looks dimpled and not sure if it’s weakened it , I know some welders so may need to sleeve the main frame for piece of mind .

Hopefully I’ll be in the position in a few weeks of having the frame repaired and frame loop welded on. Then I can start bolting it together in the meantime I’ll rebuild the forks with damper brackets , hub and wheel ready fro bolting together

For anyone thinking of buying the Indian headsets and horncasts , the casting is rough in places and no where near the Italian quality but prices for S1 Italian parts are crazy so it’s a compromise I have had to make , I’ll be getting the dremel out to tidy them up so a couple of hours work will see them looking a lot better
