Don't know mate. Not got back to him yet. Just went to check paint to see if by any chance it has harden. I first notice lots of scratches around side panel handle areas done by finger nails which came to my attention. These polished out with mequiars scratch x. Just checked to see if paint has hardened over time. Been about 2 months since sprayed. Some areas are ok when checking to see if marking by fingernail such as front legshield. Other areas such as sidepanels mark easily. Is this definitely a soft paint fail to complain of if paint is marring by doing a fingernail test ? For example on cars you get fingernail marks around car door handles. Just trying to get advice before I go back to complain and get his comeback.

if it's 2 k clear it should be rock hard after 2 months !
sounds to me like it's been mixed wrong or he's mixed products
I know it's not what you want to hear, but a total respray would probably be the only cure (no pun intended)

Those marks are caused by people wearing rings. A fingernail shouldn't scratch a lacquered finish.

Scratch X doesn't polish out fine scratches, it just fills them with a polymer resin. If you wipe over it with IP Alcohol, the scratches will reappear.

Seems like you used a similar dickhead to the one who painted mine, the artwork was good but the base colour which was painted by a company from Hinckley called Brookfield was possibly the worst job I have ever encountered.Exactly the same issues and more that you are on about, I even have rust coming through after it only being on the road 1 year! and thats on top of the frame.Usual crap about yeah just bring it back and we'll redo it but they won't take into account its all built up and would need completely stripping down.Like you I haven't got any recourse on it especially as he's gone bust now, but have heard he's started up again with another name . I've decided might be worth while parking the scoot outside with a large board by it saying please look at the appalling standard of work they do before giving them your vehicle to paint might persuade a few not to use them.

I know your problem goes far beyond this and I hope it can be sorted but it amazes me how many people have expensive paint jobs and polish them with an old rag and ten Bob polish. When I had mine done I was told to use 100% cotton cloths and proper liquid polish. Hope you get sorted

I asked about for recommendations. Got only a few. I must be out of touch though when they quoted £2500 just for a two tone paint scheme at a custom paint specialist. Taking parts round car bodywork shops in my area, they scratch their head when looking at all the parts and didn't want to know and won't even quote me at all. I know a chap who has a Lambretta himself, owns his own modern car bodywork shop, won't do scooters. All seem busy and happy with just car insurance work.

The truth is £2,500 isn't unreasonable for a proper job. I could do two full cars in the time it would take me to do one lambretta.
